The Story

SCHELDE BREWERY

IT ALL STARTED IN 1994. INDEED, QUITE A YOUNG BREWERY. IN FACT, IT ALL BEGAN IN HOLLAND, NEAR THE TOWN OF BERGEN OP ZOOM. BACK THEN, ITS OFFICIAL NAME WAS BERGSE BIERBROUWERSGILDE. AFTER A FEW YEARS OF BOTH SUCCESSES AND DIFFICULTIES THE SCHELDE BREWERY DECIDED TO MOVE TO BELGIUM.

In 2000 the company was acquired by Jan and French Ooms.

Ever since 2007 this business is located in Meer, Belgium. A little village north of Antwerp and near the Dutch border. By the way, the Sterkens brewery can also be found in this village. They started a long time ago, back in 1651. Today, both breweries are located next to each other.
Ever since they started brewing in 1994, quality is the key word in their organisation. They still respect the ancient and traditional brewing process and they only use natural ingredients. This, together with the odd and unusual beer names, characterizes the Schelde brewery.
